Removeall dirt, laitance, loose material and foreign matter. Remove allrust, scale and protective lacquers from metal surfaces.Removal can be achieved by rigorous wire brushing, grindingor grit blasting. When resealing, the existing sealant should beremoved from the joint and the arris cleaned back to soundclean concrete. All debris should be removed.Any expansion joint filler must be checked to ensure it is tightlypacked and no gaps or voids exist at the base of the sealingslot before positioning a bond breaker.The use of a bond breaker is not required in expansion jointscontaining cellular polyethylene joint filler such as Hydrocell XL, Backing rod or Expandafoam. For construction or contractionjoints a bond breaker tape or back-up strip must be used.Where a particularly neat finish is required, mask the face edgesof the joint before sealing and remove immediately after toolingis completed.
PrimingA primer is not normally required. In joints subjected to highovement or where intermittently immersed during service, Fosroc Primer 7 (porous substrates, drying time 30 minutes)or Fosroc Primer 4 (non-porous substrates, drying time 2-5minutes) is recommended.Prime the joint face using a clean, dry brush. Avoid overapplication of primer, to prevent causing puddles in the bottomof the joint.If a primed joint on porous substrate is left unsealed for morethan 4 hours, the primer should be removed by grit blasting orgrinding and the joint re-primed; on non-porous substrate, jointshould be re-primed.(For further advice on priming required please contact your localFosroc Technical Service Department).Application and finishingSachetsCut and remove the end of the sachet and place sachet in theFosroc GX gun.Fit the nozzle and cut at 45 degrees to a suitable size for sealingthe joint.CartridgesCut and remove the end of threaded stub on cartridge. Dr. Fixit PU Sealant 40 is a one-part Polyurethane Sealant composed of polyurethane polymer, pigment, filler & additives. It is used for filling and sealing joints in buildings & structures. It is highly elastic & resilient; weather durable, none sagging, watertight with excellent adhesion to almost all building construction materials.

Bostik Smartflex PU is a low modulus, one component, Class-B polyurethane sealant.
